Hong Kong Financial Secretary, Paul Chan Mo-po, recently visited Bali, Indonesia to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two regions in investment and trade. Indonesia’s burgeoning economy, driven by a large and youthful population, a growing middle class, abundant natural resources, and government policies aimed at attracting foreign investment, has made the country an increasingly popular destination for foreign investment in recent years. With a steady GDP growth rate of more than 5%, Indonesia presents an attractive prospect for businesses looking to expand their operations in the Southeast Asian region.

During his visit, Chan Mo-po met with the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce to discuss the latest developments in Hong Kong and highlight the advantages of the “One Country, Two Systems” system. Additionally, he met with the CEO of local financial service company PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance, Reynaldi Hermansjah, to discuss potential collaboration opportunities, particularly in areas such as green bonds and infrastructure financing, and promote Hong Kong’s favorable business and investment environment.

Chan Mo-po also took the opportunity to meet with local Hong Kong people to gain insights into their business and living conditions. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, Indonesia’s largest national business organization and organizer of the G20 Business Summit, expressed its intention to organize a high-level delegation to visit Hong Kong in the future to explore more opportunities for cooperation and development.

Overall, Chan Mo-po’s visit to Bali highlights the growing economic ties between Indonesia and Hong Kong, and presents potential opportunities for businesses looking to expand their operations in the region.
